Soprano

Evelyn Tsen--Emerging soprano from Malaysia has been praised for possessing a voice described as “velvety, warm, and silvery” (OperaWorks, Los Angeles) and "pure, flexible" (Boston Intelligencer).

Ms. Tsen was most recently seen in her debut with The Victorian Lyric Opera in their production of The Mikado. Her portrayal of Yum Yum was commended for being "thoroughly mesmerizing" by the DC Metro Theater Arts.

Highlights from 2016 include performing with Bel Cantanti in The Unicorn and L'Elisir D'amore, as well as appearing as the soloist in Bach's Magnificat with Georgetown Presbyterian Church Choir. Previously, she has sung in the chorus with Odyssey Opera and performed Sophie in Boston Opera Collaborative's Werther.

Ms. Tsen received her Graduate Performance Diploma at The Boston Conservatory, performing as Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia, Papagena in The Magic Flute and Grasshopper in The Cunning Little Vixen. Her portrayal of Papagena was particularly lauded as being "sung coquettishly" and that it "charmed all" (Boston Examiner). She has also sung with prestigious opera programs, such as The Advanced Artist Operaworks Program and The International Performing Arts Institute in Germany.

In addition to performing, Ms. Tsen is passionate about teaching. She believes that music can be a means of expression for every individual. She strives to share the power of music through both her teaching and performances.
